About the Certification
This introductory certification course is delivered as a series of 4 workshops designed to develop teaching effectiveness and instructional competencies for lecturers, adjuncts or part-time instructors of entrepreneurship courses. This virtual certification will be delivered on Tuesday evenings, April 2-23, from 7 - 9 p.m. ET.
Who would benefit from this program?
Successful entrepreneurs who begin teaching at the collegiate level out of passion, a desire to give back, a connections with a local institution or alma mater, etc. In fact, Lecturers and Instructors with practical experience are well-suited for this newer approach and are often only in need of tools and tips for how to engage students effectively and unlock potential in their own classroom experiences which are explored during this certification program.
Likewise, entrepreneurship center staff have experience or passion that just needs some theoretical underpinnings to unlock their highest potential
Doctoral students, ABDs, and even experienced faculty from outside of the entrepreneurship discipline have excellent knowledge and need examples and frameworks for translating their research for students into experiential learning.
Why is this important?
Meeting today's students where they are is a critical component for getting through to them.
Knowing how to successfully run a business, deliver programs, or effectively research are all different than helping young students (all with their own backgrounds, educational challenges, and interests) in a university setting develop the skills needed to successfully start a venture.
Additionally, the inner workings of universities are different than the business world, and the field of teaching entrepreneurship has shifted to an experiential model that is different than methods used just 10-15 years ago. Participants will gain insights into how to navigate within the academic world, and learn what students prefer with the current situation of online and hybrid learning.
